Finely bound by Ramage (stamp-signed to verso of FFEP) in later navy half-morocco, marbled boards, lettered in gilt to spine. Marbled endpapers, T.E.G. Very lightly rubbed. Scattered spotting, mostly to margins.
The first edition, finely bound, of the second collaboration between Scottish travel writer and topographer John M. Leighton and noted Glaswegian engraver Joseph Swan (1796- 1872), richly furnished with the drawings of local painter John Fleming (1792-1845). Having published their first work two years prior, the successful Select Views of Glasgow and its Environs (1828), the three would continue their promising partnership, producing their best-known collaboration, Select Views of the Lakes of Scotland, in 1834.
