RENOU, Sarah. The temple of truth. A Poem, in five cantos..

Edinburgh. Printed for James Taylor Smith and Company, 1821. Second edition.
8vo. [6], 102pp. Finely bound for Sotherans in early twentieth-century half-calf, marbled paper boards. Marbled endpapers and edges. Slightly faded, light shelf-wear, else a fine copy. Some spotting to preliminaries.
The second edition of Sarah Renou's only published volume of poetry. Renou is perhaps better known for her first work, the moralistic juvenile Village conversations; or, The vicar's fire-side (London, 1815), which was dedicated to Hannah More. The temple of truth, which an introductory note to this second edition suggests was also intended for a juvenile audience, is a five-canto allegory of the progress of the faculties of reason through scientific knowledge.

COPAC locates only two copies of this edition, at BL and NLS. OCLC adds Stanford only.
Not in Jackson Annals. Jackson, Romantic poetry by Women p. 267.
