A new edition of engraver and caricaturist George Cruikshank's (1792-1878) popular profusely illustrated comical compilation of satirical sketches, edited by humourist Gilbert Abbot à Beckett (1811-1856), initially published in twelve monthly parts in 1845.

Thomas Barlow (1845-1945), physician, primarily known for his original research on scurvy in infants, sometime medical registrar at the Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, and from 1899 physician- extraordinary to Queen Victoria, being present at her deathbed.
